About Me
I am a designer with a range of skills and a passion for stories. I have a BSc Honours in Digital Media and Interaction Design, and a masters, MProf Games Development. This has given me skills ranging from games design, UI/UX design, video and image editing, through to writing, research and collaboration.
At heart though, I am a storyteller. I believe every individual part of a work contributes to the whole, therefore no part should be overlooked, every element linking in and hooking up to become a greater whole. In games, for instance, the mechanics should be compelling on their own, but should be paired with compelling writing and fitting visuals. The writing should have an appropriate weight and texture and give reason to the visuals and mechanics. Finally, the visuals should tie everything together and assist the player in entering the world the writing and mechanics set up. And that's just the surface, not even mentioning how other elements such as the sound can and should uplift this further and give the players all the cues and atmosphere they didn’t even notice them egging them on. The point is, I believe in creating something more than the sum of its parts, if you will excuse the cliché.
I love working on the details, alone and with a team, finding all the small details that make a piece great and elevate it beyond the norm. I especially love working with other people, seeing the unique ideas and skills they bring, and how those ideas and skills can mix with mine.
If you like what you’ve seen in my portfolio and would like to get in contact, feel free.
